The Local 328 bargaining team would like to thank all the members who came to today’s town hall in person or watched via the live-stream! If you have any questions that weren’t answered today, just comment below or email us at bargaining@local328.org. We also plan to hold at least one more town hall as negotiations continue. (Evening- and night-shift employees: we’ll be holding events at 5:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. for you!) Stay tuned for details as we get these scheduled.

Your support means so much to those of us at the table, and your engagement in the bargaining progress is what will help lead our union to the fair contract our members deserve. We heard you loud and clear — we hope management did too!

We look forward to seeing you and your families at our bargaining rally on Thursday, June 13. We’ll start things off by gathering by the Mac Hall fountain at 4:00 p.m., and wrap things up with the BBQ/picnic ~6:15 p.m. We’d love it if folks can stay for the entire event, of course, but even if you can only stop by for a few minutes, please do! The more, the merrier — and the more of us who attend, the clearer it will be to OHSU that our members have had enough with the take-backs.

Finally, as today’s Labor Relations email from OHSU indicated, the bargaining forums with HR director Hollie Hemenway have finally been announced. The first event will be held on Wednesday, June 5, from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. in Richard Jones Hall rm. 4320, and the second on Wednesday, June 19, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Doernbecher 11th floor Vey Auditorium. Both of these venues hold ~150 people — let’s pack the rooms like we did today! We encourage our members to attend (wearing green and wearing your AFSCME buttons and stickers, of course) and respectfully engage as OHSU presents information about its proposals.

  1. Awesome to see the strong presence and vibrant energy at the town hall today. I am so appreciative of our members at the table who are advocating and fighting for us and instilling confidence in what we are worth. Now it’s OUR TIME to step in and back you up. Time to reveal to OHSU that we are NOT divided and we’re NOT “too poor” to stand up for what’s right and fair. We are the backbone of OHSU and I’m grateful to share this responsibility and honor with almost 7,000 other’s.
    I’m extremely proud to work for OHSU. I’d greatly appreciate it if OHSU showed me and my fellow members it was proud of us by giving us a fair and equitable contract.

  2. I will be attending these meetings, however they are scheduled during times that evs are *required? To clock in or start their first cleaning of a room or the end of their shifts when they are “pressured ” to finish cleaning their rooms. I have found from talking to evs workers that they don’t even know what our contract entails, what their employee email is, how to access it, and even that things will change if we don’t stand up. Please can you put some help into this department about what our struggles are and give them some guidance! I talked to many, but they haven’t had glimpse into our system. They are paying just like us. They have family just like us. They are seriously being a pawn in ohsu game.

    1. Yes, we will definitely do extra outreach for the departments who don’t have computer access at work! EVS is an integral part of OHSU, and those workers deserve respect just as much as faculty do.

  3. It was so great to see so many folks show up! We need that x10 at the rally!

    Matt presented a flow chart of the progression of bargaining (mediation, impasse, cooling off period, etc.) noting # of days for some of the stages and now I’m a little confused about timing.

    Can that flow chart can be posted here or sent around with tentative dates added?

    Specifically, it would be great for preparation sake to know when I/my colleagues might be striking (if it does come to that).
